I'd like it as an addition to the Birthday bash, I mean more things to do is always good. Currently this goodbye Gaile event is rather boring, no minigames, no rings, no quests, just a mass farmfest, like easter. It'd be nice to have a quest line to do for victory token on the birthday bash, and a mask would drain tokens from the collecter keeping prices of title points decent. I mean the Birthday bash should be a big event, and adding NPCs that already exist back into the game can't be that hard. Plus for most people this would be new content.

I actually was happy that I could finally hand in my 105 kournan pendants for something more than XP scrolls (which are, needless to say, the next best thing to pointless for a level 20 character with 300 skill points in the bank anyway). Didn't make much use of the festival though.
Re: the Factions launch event, personally I'd prefer new stuff to rehashed old stuff.

(Its my pet peeve that their introducing generic elf race instead of keeping the Tengu, a unique (I have yet to see a playable bird race in a popular game) race)

That surprised me too, when they released the race list; three of the five races had never appeared in GW before, and one of them still hasn't. Meanwhile, the Charr get the nod, and they omit at least two races that seem to have been fleshed out better (Tengu and Centaurs).
Nonetheless, there seems to be a popular opinion that the Tengu may be added as a race later, next time we see Cantha. (There's obviously some unresolved business there.)

I pre-ordered but didn't get to play. I think it's the only event I didn't get to attend too. Someone playfully teases me about that now with their tengu mask. :P

I haven't seen it because i was not playing Guild Wars yet when the Day of the Tengu took place. But that alone would be a reason to see it.
